ALHIV Adherence Initiative

About ALHIV Adherence Initiative Programme

ALHIV Adherence Initiative was a 2-year project, supported by the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF). CHS worked closely with Siaya County’s Department of Health in empowering teenage girls and boys with the skills, knowledge and tools to ensure their sexual and reproductive health, helping them make a healthy transition to adulthood.

Through this project, CHS explored new school-based strategies for HIV testing and the use of technology to support peer-led adherence interventions such as Operation Triple Zero (OTZ) and the development of a mobile application dubbed “Heroes App”.

The aim of the project was to increase the number of HIV-positive adolescents aged 10 to 19 years living with HIV in Siaya County who know their HIV status by approximately 40% from 4,002 to 5,700, by testing 230,000 students within the two years.
