On September 22, 2023, CHS participated in the second United Nations High Level Meeting (UNHLM) on TB in New York.
While representing President William Ruto, Cabinet Secretary for Health. Susan Nakhumicha articulated Kenya’s unwavering commitment to global TB commitments in the meeting.
CS Nakhumicha added that the country is forging synergies in TB response through integrated healthcare, accelerating diagnosis, treatment, and prevention at all levels.
This year’s UNHLM theme of “Advancing science, finance and innovation, and their benefits, to urgently end the global tuberculosis epidemic, in particular, by ensuring equitable access to prevention, testing, treatment and care” resonates well with CHS mission of a world of healthy families through universal access to health interventions and services.
Our participation in the event provided us with an opportunity to share best practices and learn from other participants; provide insights on controversial issues, challenges, and innovative solutions.
We were also able to directly engage with key stakeholders, policymakers, and influencers; influencing policy and driving change to inform our engagement and support for the Kenya National TB Program.
Behold UNHLM, CHS will continue to support and engage with the Kenya’s Ministry of Health National TB Program in championing and advocating for TB related technology towards advancing science, finance and innovation as well as the political class at national and sub national level, towards achieving TB prioritisation for the timely delivery of quality TB services in line with the End-TB agenda.
