Dr Eliab Seroney Some has been appointed by the interim committee of Kenya’s STOP TB Partnership (STP) to lead its strategic planning process.
Dr Some is expected to guide the partnership in developing its five – year (2014-2018) strategic plan that will help the partnership achieve its key objective of mobilising a massive movement of organisations committed to the fight against Tuberculosis (TB).
Dr Some has extensive local and international experience in strategic planning, health programming and programme/project reviews. He has specifically undertaken strategic planning for 10 different organisations and governments including the Government of Pakistan; Ministry of Health, Fiji Islands; 22-country Pacific Immunisation Programme Strengthening (PIPS) Partnership; Nine-ministry Malawi Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI) IMCI Policy; Malawi’s Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) scale up plan; Malawi’s National AIDS Commission 2003-2008 Integrated Plan; African Development Bank; Somalia; Ministry of Health (MoH), Eritrea, among others.
The strategic planning process is supported by the USAID funded Tuberculosis Accelerated Response and Care (TB ARC) activity. The completed strategic plan will be ready for dissemination and implementation by June 30, 2014. Once in place, the partnership is expected to grow into a vibrant movement able to influence the course of events leading to the elimination of TB in Kenya.
