Abstract
Background
Early HIV testing among sexual contacts of index clients is vital to reduce transmission. This study evaluated time to HIV testing after partner notification in Siaya County.
Methods
A retrospective analysis of 6,845 adult sexual contacts identified at 117 health facilities (2017–2018) was conducted. Cox regression was used to assess factors associated with time to testing.
Results
Median time to HIV testing was 14.5 days. Younger contacts, singles, and non-spouse sexual partners were tested faster. Spouses and those in monogamous marriages experienced the longest delays.
Conclusion
Differentiated partner services should prioritize groups with delayed testing. Strengthening follow-up of spouse contacts can improve early diagnosis and linkage to care.
