Abstract
Background
Pediatric HIV treatment outcomes are critical for epidemic control. This study examined factors linked to viral suppression and treatment success among Kenyan children and adolescents.
Methods
A retrospective review of electronic medical records of 3,136 patients aged 0–19 years on ART was conducted. Factors like ART regimen, adherence, and support services were analyzed.
Results
Adherence support, caregiver presence, and early ART initiation were significantly associated with viral suppression. Adolescents had poorer outcomes compared to younger children.
Conclusion
Tailored interventions that strengthen adherence and psychosocial support for adolescents are necessary to improve pediatric HIV treatment outcomes.
