The CHS board chair – Dr. Kishorchandra Mandaliya, was on August 23, 2013 bestowed the award of The Knight in the Order of Leopold by the Belgian Government. His Excellency Mr. Bart Ouvry the Belgian Ambassador to Kenya presented the award at a ceremony at the Mombasa Club.
Dr. Mandaliya who has served as the Provincial Pathologist at the Coast General Hospital for nearly 24 years was recognized for his honourable services for over 20 years to Belgian people, the Belgian government and teaching of Belgian medical students and doctors in Mombasa and Gent, Belgium. Dr. Mandaliya has been influential in various pioneer research and interventions in Kenya, mostly related to HIV and STDs. As the CHS board chairperson, his role has been critical in achieving continuous growth and success at the organization.
