Congratulations are in order to Dr Frida Njogu-Ndongwe, CHS Director of Programs following the recent publication of her book titled Tuberculosis Case Detection in Kenya: Barriers and Solutions.
Published through Lambert Academic Publishing, the publication explores the reasons for delayed and sub-optimal TB detection in Kenya. It seeks to understand these from both informal and formal service providers and presents both patient and health-system barriers – with the majority being health-system related – and goes ahead to propose solutions to these barriers.
The book draws from her experience working in health development with an understanding of Kenya’s Health System and has been published from her thesis, written in 2009 while pursuing studies at the University of Auckland.
Tuberculosis Case Detection in Kenya: Barriers and Solutions is a good read for policy makers, government agencies implementing TB services including the National TB, Leprosy and Lung Disease Unit (NTLD-Unit), implementing partners and NGOs in Kenya as well as in other regions facing similar challenges.
