CHS envisions a world of healthy families through universal access to health interventions and services and works closely with county and national government to enhance the delivery of health services to communities across the country. We are dedicated to contributing to Kenya’s and global efforts to flatten the COVID 19 curve.
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment.
COVID 19 has been seen to have severe effects on individuals with pre-existing conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, heart disease and the like. While individuals are encouraged to stay at home and maintain social distancing, it is vital to ensure continuity in the access to essential HIV/TB prevention treatment and care services.
We must ensure that people with other diseases such as HIV and TB continue accessing life-saving medication and health services; a lack of this may compromise their immune system increasing their risk of infection to COVID -19 and other opportunistic infections. Our Contribution
CHS is observing the recommended infection prevention control measures and continues to ensure the delivery of quality health services across 425 supported health facilities. Actions taken include training and sensitising health care workers, improving infection prevention control measures in health facilities, enhancing community engagement through peer educators and volunteers, as well as providing technical expertise and improving stakeholder engagement towards ensuring the communities we serve have access to correct information.
CHS staff are frequently engaging health care workers and communities through health education and distribution of IEC materials about COVID-19 and are highlighting the role each should play in preventing and containing this infectious disease.
